Flashback-High School-1985/1988-#2

Funny how life sometimes imitates the dumpass stupid shit we all are guilty of from (high school). Those clicks you thought were so important and those bullies who tormented every-minute of life, Adolescent shenanigans and growing pains "Don't miss that crap at all". Fortunately some of us grow-out of those trappings and blossom into the individuals we were meant to be.

The performing bug struck me pretty early in life, Once I discovered how much joy I could bring people by my acting and humor, Nothing could stop me from wanting to shine bright on any platform. One of my super favorite teachers from high school was named, Mr.Brown and he conducted this acting troupe and I knew I had to be involved. I remember my mother attending a few of my stage debuts, In fact my Grandmother and Uncle Tommy all encouraged me to "Let my FREAK flag fly" from time-to-time (as long as it was under the umbrella of expressing creativity).

PS-Mr.Brown knew of my artistic ability and had me draw the teddybear logo on the shirts-Everyone is wearing in the photos. Who knew years later, I would be doing it professionally and my designs would end-up on  two contestants on two different shows...So You Think You Can Dance & Big Brother.

Title:Carlos Colon 1987-2014

Carlos Colon was the first boy to capture my heart truly. After relocating from Miami to New York City back in 1985. I literally stalked this boy in high school, We were cordial to one another but when I drew this picture one day in class and showed him...It felt like we were kindred spirits. A last, I have not seen him since 1987 and I hope life has been good to him. He's probably married to a woman (terminally straight) with a few kids.

If you previously read a post on this blog title:Flashback-1987 then you alreday know about the two brothers residing on the same street as me. Well, My young libido was in overdrive because at school, I spent a lot of time talking with this attractive dude name, Prince. He was an aspiring actor and I remember he landed a role and screen-time in a film by the company "Troma Entertainment" notably responsible for the camp-cult classic film-The Toxic Avenger (1984). Prince was always very passionate about his desire to branch outside the Bronx and become a huge star, Really hope he succeeded at his dream. He always seem to treat me and my odd sensibility with a mutual common respect and he had to known, I was drawling over his masculine bravado.
 

Also manage to find a picture of my long-lost-friend Billy Oliver...One of the "original" JollyRogers.

We bonded over our love of going to great concerts together like, The Cult, Siouxsie & The Banshees, HUGE-The Smiths fans (never saw them live and NEVER will), Yaz, Culture Club, Boy George, Depeche Mode, Simply Red, The HouseMartins, The Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen, Erasure, George Michael and so many, many more-concerts back than the tickets were priced between $20-40 dollars for a band playing at The Felt Forum or Radio City Music Hall and spending hours at The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the 8th street Playhouse.
