PS-Every time I see this drawing I laugh a little inside (Willi had a way of always making me smile) because waaaaaayyyyyy before I started letting Willi Ninja into the clubs (I primarily worked the door entrance and the V.I.P Lists).
One late night my hubris got the better of me and it was in the basement of a club known as "MARS" on the westside highway back in the 1991-92 era.
In that dimly lit basement I proceeded to vogue battle with Willi Ninja, Now remember this is before "Paris Is Burning" fame for him and I believe before MTV for me but as a dancer I knew of his reputation.I recall the entire experience as being playful and sweet.I had forever gained a friend that night and the feelings were mutual, throughout my club scene days in Manhattan, New York...Whenever I was doing the list, I would ALWAYS COMP Willi and his entourage. He was always gracious and would talk with me for awhile before he went inside and conquered all dance floors.
R.I.P My friend you are forever MISSED!!!
