Time had finally come to
deal with this looming mess with my departure from Virginia. Prior to
the actual day, I had received some sort of official phone call from
Amtrak’s Julie telling me my train was cancelled indefinitely. This
tit-for-tat exchange went on up until the train pulled-out of Newport
News (train station).
Yes, I took into account their was a major disaster facing us all with the system but what I was not prepared for was the abundant, lack of coherent and decisive information between patron and service provider.
Luckily I have an AMAZING partner. Who met
me in Philly (where he attended college) we took an expensive cab ride
to the airport and rented a car which also wasn't cheap and he drove us
back to NYC and I went to bed around 6AM today.
Basically running
on fumes but I had to get this horrific incident off my chest. Amtrak
owes me a partial refund and I hope & pray the engineer is convicted
for his duplicity and the major inconvenienced he caused everyone.

I had been reassured numerous times about the train moving slowly but
reaching Philly at 11PM , than I would have to transfer to Philly's
train system known as Septa and be shuttled to Newark, NJ to take NJ
transit into Penn Station. All of this was completely fabricated in some
Amtrak employee's mind because Septa stopped running at Midnight. The
train did not get into Philly until 12:30 and Septa does not resume
operations until 6AM.
