Tom Rubnitz and Les Simpson at ACT UP protest at City Hall. (1989) |
(R.I.P)-Tom Rubnitz a.k.a-Frieda, the dancing disco doll-NYC Underground Club personality & entertainer.
This still haunts me after all these years!
Frieda, the dancing disco doll, was made famous by underground filmmaker Tom Rubnitz. Frieda was created by Barbara Lipp and Tom Koken, who wrote all songs and shows. Barbara and Tom collaborated with Tom Rubnitz when they worked on video versions of the show. This night, Frieda was appearing "live" at the Pyramid Club in a benefit for the upcoming production of the play "Julie Is Her Name" by Edmund Sutton.

Thanks for the NIGHTMARES!
