Recently came across this picture of Boy George from the very first time I met him.
I can replay the night in my head (verbatim), I was fortunate enough to be standing in front of the stage, underneath Boy George and his amazing troupe accompanying him. The songs sounded great and his vocals were spectacular at one point during his performance, I reached over and handed him a huge sunflower which he held on to while singing the chorus.
I was already in the spotlight by my overtly obvious attire, Knee-high, jet-black, tie-with-a-shoelace Doc Marten boots, Skin-tight, black biker short pants, NO shirt necessary and this was the "KNOCK-OUT" piece of my outfit...
A full-length denim trench coat which was decorated in fabric paint and fabric markers to create different phases of Boy George's look since the beginning of Culture Club but wait! It wasn't just an awesome piece it had to have my personal touch, So each portrait was drawn with ripped images of his face morphing into a newer face of Boy George. I had my back to the entire audience, So I knew it was being featured under the "spotlight".
The following piece I found on the internet about this evening:
The EP Club Tour
The Tunnel Night Club
New York City
October 13, 1993 2 am
This was Boy George's first performance as the new devil in sister George. George was performing for the first time 3 new remixes from the newly awaited EP. The stage was backed up by two famous New York drag queens Brenda A Go- Go & Brandy Wine., The two drag queens both did backing vocals over the PA. George was also with 5 go-go boys and also featured MC kinky. The set including the ramp remix of Generations Of Love featured a rap by MC Kinky. Love Hurts (Evolutions Disco moment remix) and a killer ramp remix to Miss Me Blind (Return to Gender remix) which featured a great rap by MC Kinky also. Some fans were lucky enough to go back stage and meet George including Tea With George founder Amy Greenberg.
Jaime Burke & Marc Berkley worked closely with Boy George during this time and I knew them both "exclusively" and they were well aware of my obsession with Boy George. Jaime (also Boy George obsessed) came from backstage after the performance was over & out in the audience and grabbed me and he said, 'Don't act like a silly queen be cool", He took me into a large room backstage where I immediately spotted Boy George-I was so nervous, shaking but trying desperately to remain calm. He's very tall, I noticed he was engaged in conversations so I walked over to the refreshments table while Jaime was running around doing management stuff etc. I wanted to appear "cool" but inside I was screaming...OMG!!!!OMG!!!OMG!!!
And now the "BEST" part of this story...
My back is turned towards everyone standing backstage talking to Boy George and monopolizing his time while I'm at the refreshments table trying to look nonchalant, When all I really want is to meet my idol. Suddenly, I spot Jaime in my peripheral vision approaching and Boy George from behind me moving towards me, Literally parting a small group of people to come over to me and introduce himself and try desperately to look for a pen to sign my coat after he said "My art work was really twisted & wicked". We chatted briefly, He went on with his entourage, I left from backstage...Crying and telling all my friends I just met Boy George...Still trembling.

Thank You! Jaime Burke & Marc Berkley-R.I.P
for all the INCREDIBLE memories.
